AFCP

Why we're here

fruit of labours

History
There are thought to be about 150 individual charities supporting the agri-food industry. In 2006 concern had been expressed by a group of them that their activities were becoming less successful in providing effective support for the industry.

A seminar was held in February 2007 to investigate the opportunities for and benefits of cooperation between the many charities. The attendees, representing over 30 charities, strongly supported a formal coordinating function and AFCP was formally registered in 2008 as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. It has a chairman and board of directors representing a range of charities, with Dr Paul Biscoe as a strictly part-time chief executive.

What's been achieved

AFCP is a facilitator . . . primarily through the medium of this website. But we’re frequently unaware of the successful funding and collaboration we’ve facilitated (after all, it’s our role to be an activator but not to get involved in any detailed discussions or negotiations).

So to help spread the word about AFCP’s work it is essential that we provide examples of successful facilitating . . . if this website has helped you, please let us know.

Here are some examples of people and organizations we’ve helped . . .
